As part of its Five-Year Institutional Plan, the FU College of Arts and Sciences conducted the first two sessions of a forum on "The Value of Research". Invited to speak and inspire the CAS teachers during the forum were Dr. Enrique G. Oracion and Apolinario B. Carino research professors at Silliman University.
Dr. Oracion is currently director of the SU Research & Development Center while Carino heads a province-wide NGO, the Pederasyon sa Nagkahiusang mga Maguuma nga Nanalipud ng Nagpasiguli sa Kinaiyahan.
Equally-skilled researchers from FU, Dr. Angelita M. Cadelina and Dr. Julhusin Jalisan, also graced the forum to motivate the teachers to conduct researches.
Dr. Cadelina is a Biology professor, while Dr. Jalisan is a full-time professor in the School of Industrial Engineering & Technology and at the Graduate School.
The invited speakers shared about the monetary and the non-monetary rewards of research based on their many years of experience as researchers.
The forum was initiated by the Research Committee of the CAS headed by Evelyn Escarda, in the hope of encouraging the faculty to conduct researches.
The last session of the forum, slated end this month, is a presentation of the Research Agenda for the CAS.
