FU celebrates Int’l. “Peace One Day” movement

The Foundation University community celebrated “Peace One Day” with a series of activities from Sept. 24 – 27.

The celebration opened with a Mass celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Noel Maria Pareja.

On Thursday, the Foundation University Student Council, initiated an academic Convocation – Forum with Engr. Deo Salem as guest speaker.  Speaking on “Finding Inner Peace,” Engr. Salem inspired the students with stories about his personal struggles back when he was a student and shared how it is possible to attain inner peace in the midst of problems and difficulties.

The Foundation University Student Council (FUSC) also sponsored an Essay Writing and a Poster-Making Contests on the theme.  The contest were joined by representatives of the different student organizations.

The Siaton Foundationites won the Essay Writing contest while the School of Industrial Engineering and Technology (SIET) won the Poster-making contest.

The Peace One Day celebration culminated last Saturday with a “Walk for Peace” from the Quezon Park to the campus parade grounds.

The “Walk for Peace” followed a short program which highlighted the singing of songs about peace and a candle lighting ceremony.

The FUSC also awarded the winners of the essay writing and poster making contests during the program.  The celebration was capped by a community breakfast at the FU Parade grounds.
