Silliman-Foundation debaters clash on voting rights

Education sophomore Julius Caesar Carballo was chosen as Best Speaker in the 2010 Grand Debate held Friday between Silliman University and Foundation University at the Sofia Soller Sinco Hall at the FU main campus.

Debating on the motion “This House believes that elections are only for the literate,” the Foundation University Debate Society (FUDS) argued for the government’s side while the Silliman University Debate Society (SUDS) took the side of the Opposition.

Sillimanians Carlo Angelo Regalado and Ana Katrina Espino were recognized Best Rebuttal speaker and Best Debater, respectively.

An initiative of the Foundation University Student Government, the debate was done in the All-Asians Format, where the topic was made known to the debaters only thirty minutes before the debate.

The debate adjudicators were Atty. Myrish Cadapan-Antonio as Chief Adjudicator, together with Lea Janice Sicat and Mark Raygan Garcia.
