Graduation, Honors & Awards
REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION . The minimum requirements for graduation from Foundation University include:
a. Completion of the minimum number of units required for each course in the University Catalog;
b. One year academic residence; that is, not less than 30 units of academic work for college and 7 units for high school.
The senior year must be taken in residence at Foundation University.
c. An average of 1 grade point earned for each unit carried; and
d. An over-all average of at least three (3).
Seniors who, at the end of the second semester of the senior year, are deficient with at least eight units or 2 subjects needed for graduation may complete work at an approved institution with the approval of the President.
GRADUATION HONORS . Graduation with honors is determined by a general point average of the student, computed at the time of graduation.
The graduation honors for college are Summa Cum Laude , Magna Cum Laude, Cum Laude and the University Honor Award.
The distinction of Summa Cum Laude may be awarded to students who obtain a grade of “1.5″ or better in at least 90% of all academic subjects in their courses with no grade lower than “2.0″ in all other subjects and a general average of at least “1.20″ or better.
The distinction of Magna Cum Laude may be awarded to students who obtain a grade of “1.5″ or better in at least 80% of all academic subjects in their courses with no grade lower than “2.0″ in all other subjects and a general average of at least “1.35″.
The distinction of Cum Laude may be awarded to students who obtain a grade of “1.5″ or better in at least 70% of all academic subjects in their courses with no grade lower than “2.5″ in all other subjects and a general average of at least “1.5″.
The distinction of University Honor Award may be awarded to students who obtain a Grade Point Average (GPA) 1.75 or better but not high enough to qualify them for Cum Laude and with no grade lower than “2.25″ in all his academic subjects.
No graduation honors may be awarded to students unless at least the last two (2) years of the course were taken in residence at Foundation University.
PRESIDENT’S HONOR AWARD . The President’s Honor Award may be given, upon recommendation of the faculty of instruction of the school through its head or dean, to honor students who obtain a grade point average of 1.40 or better, in the case of college students and 90% or better, in the case of high school students and elementary pupils; provided, however, that the candidates for the award are of good moral character and exemplary behavior.
THE DEAN’S AND PRINCIPAL’S HONOR AWARD . The Dean’s and Principal’s Honor Award may be given to students whose grade point average is 1.75 or better (for college) and 87.50% or better (for high school and elementary), but not high enough to qualify them for the President’s Honor Award. The candidates for the award shall also be of good moral character and exemplary behavior.
THE CO-CURRICULAR AND EXTRA-CURRICULAR AWARDS . Awards for outstanding performance in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities may also be given to students who excel in these fields, based on the following criteria: 1) amount and quality of performance in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, 2) intensity of leadership shown in such activities, and 3) significance of activities to over-all programs and goals of the University.
