The threat of “publish or perish” has spawned two deplorable developments in the field of research: the preponderance of trivial research produced and an “unprecedented number of scientific misconduct cases…” [John A. Centra, 1993]. The publication of this Manual is Foundation University’s response to these two areas of concern as it contains regulations and procedures intended to thwart their commission and prescribe sanctions for their violation.
The Manual contains policies, guidelines and standards that should be observed by the faculty and by those involved in research work conducted under the auspices of the FU. Being a new document, it is anticipated that there will be sections contained therein that will be subject to constant discussion and revision. Everyone in the University community is encouraged to participate in making the document a worthwhile and valuable tool that will foster the realization of the noble vision and mission of the University.
