To mark the eighth year since the implementation of the iPad program at Foundation University, Broadcast Communication majors launched the first edition of the iPadayag Film Festival with a Public Screening and Awards Night held September 27 at the Sofia Soller Sinco Hall.
iPadayag Film Fest featured eight works captured and edited with the use of the iPad by junior high school and senior high from Foundation Preparatory Academy.
Themed, “Keeping Up with the Millennials,” the storyline of most entries revolved around the various facets in the life of a teenager in this current generation.
Before the actual filmmaking, the staff and volunteers of the Greyhound Studios organized a workshop for the participating students last September 8. Participants also were given the privilege to consult with film producers during the production process.
“Playlist” was awarded Best Film and Best in Cinematography. The film was directed by C-jae Faustorilla along with cast and production crew namely: Rhynard Patron, Godofredo Quibal, Jestoni Cuadra, Casey Eyoyo, Elcid Delos Reyes, Wenzy Quilantang, Dan Brent Uy, Oriel Alforque, Leo Alatan, Jan Darrill Batal, Vincent Sojor, Christine Gabucan, Donna Sangual, Shawn Bilacaol, Engrid Benedico, Neil Katada, Lee Bungcasan, Evanz Dizon, Edwin Chiong, Shin Jamandron and Van Bangalon.
On the other hand, “Sino ang Salarin” directed by Marco Simpao bagged the Special Award for Creativity. The production team of the film was composed of the following: Daryl Jay Yber, Jocelyn Rodriguez, Loreen Amaca, Josiah Siano, Joshua Ventula, Kareen Quisido, Charles White, Bless Belotindos, April Ventulero and John Forneza.
Meanwhile, Jestoni Cuadra (Playlist) and Carina Simpao (Barkada) were named as Best Actor and Best Actress, respectively. Glennifer Gocotano (Paglaum) emerged as Best Director for the film fest.
Ipadayag Film Fest is geared to maximize the medium of film as a creative means of communicating information. Through film making, the students will be able to enhance their critical thinking and express their creativity.
