Manjuyod embarks on BMG experiment

The municipality of Manjuyod has begun an experiment that could make itself the center for organic waste management in Negros Oriental and in the entire country. The experiment, in cooperation with the Foundation University Alumni Association,Inc., involves the use of bio-mechanical goats (BMG), a simple mechanical device that hastens the conversion of organic waste into compost fertilizer.

Four years ago, The Times generously donated some used equipment to Foundation University, a nonprofit college in the Philippines founded by my grandfather.  The gift included a pair of well-worn Canon EOS 1Ds, a 28-70mm zoom, a 70-200mm zoom and two strobes. These hand-me-downs proved to be a godsend to the school, located in the provincial town of Dumaguete City, where decent camera equipment doesn’t come easy.

Greyhound 101

FM Station

Within the beautiful campus of Foundation University lies the Greyhound 101 radio station. The station serves as the laboratory for Broadcast Communications students to practice and hone their skills. Greyhound 101 also represents Foundation University as Dumaguete City’s University Radio.
